Chapter Eight

Harper let her gaze fall over Ryder’s face when she confessed that yes he did scare her.

A moment of satisfaction shone from his green eyes. As if he had expected her to say that, but when she raised her trembling hand toward his face, a frown dipped in the middle of his forehead.

Ryder roared at her, a grumbling sound that warned her off.

She wasn’t going to listen to him.

She didn’t gasp out of horror though if that’s what he had thought. She had reacted that way because seeing the whole of his face had thrown her off balance. The scar did nothing to detract from his stunning male features, in fact, the scar made him seem more dangerous, more mysterious.

Before she could touch him, he caught her wrist.

His jaw hardened. His eyes darkened.

She should have been scared of him, of all three of them together. A lesser woman would have pulled away from him out of fear and it wouldn’t be because of his scars. They were scary men. But they also fascinated her.

Without breaking the hold of his gaze, she tried to touch his face again, despite the hold on her wrist. The rumbling warning should have deterred her. But she realized nothing could or would have stopped her from touching him.

He thought she was afraid of him because of his scar. He was wrong. She was afraid of him, and Sawyer and Karter included because of the way they made her feel.

Out of control. Anxious. Wild. Needy. Her body was constantly strained around them. Hot. Wet.

She used all her strength to overpower his hold on her wrist which prevented her from touching him. If he hadn’t slacked his grip on her she would have never succeeded.

Ryder growled softly at her, warning her again. But she ignored him.

Her fingers brushed his beard and her senses sizzled in excitement.

She held her breath and glided the tips of her finger over his scars, trailing down the length of them and absorbing their touch into her memory.

Her gaze shifted to his eyes.

“Ryder,” she said softly.

“I should be the one to spank you this time.”

His words, spoken roughly, melted her. She sagged against him. Memories of her first-ever and last punishment flooded her mind.

Sawyer‘s and Karter’s hands were on her. Reducing her to a pulp. Taking all her control away and laying down a new path for her.

She closed her eyes as she remembered being instructed to bend over for Ryder to remove the ginger root from inside her ass. She blushed hotly now. All the sensations they had put her through remained etched in her mind forever.

She cupped the side of his face with the whole of her palm. She then lifted herself on the tips of her toes and planted a feather-like kiss on the gashes claiming his face.

Her lips had just touched him, before Ryder flattened her even more against the wall, pinning her down completely, leaving no room between their bodies.

He roared at her in what she thought sounded like dominance and frustration combined.
